DOVE-GREY COLOURED TILES…
This was a strange commission indeed and a magnificent result for the Unified Methodist Church in Liberty, a small village situated in south-east Kansas, USA. This project owes its existence to the «fog grey» facing tiles from Ludowici, Terreal’s American subsidiary. This ultra-modern church was inspired by representations of the Pentecost painted by Titian and El Greco in which the Holy Spirit appears in the form of a dove with outstretched wings, rising to Heaven.
The building itself, but also its clean grey-white colour, symbolizes the bird of peace. No fewer than 975 m2 of facing tiles cover the building’s façades in an extremely elegant fashion. Although design was a major factor in the choice of this solution for the façade of this building, which was built with the help of many volunteers, so too were the technical qualities of the product.
